ArtPrize is an internationally acclaimed art competition and festival that takes place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The event draws artists from across the globe to showcase their work in various venues around the city, attracting a diverse audience. The success of ArtPrize heavily depends on its digital platform, which facilitates artist registrations, venue management, and public engagement.

The Problem?

ArtPrize came to Fusionary with the need for a significant upgrade to their artist and venue registration portal, which failed to meet the growing demands of the event.

The existing system required artists and venues to re-register annually, lacked real-time data tracking, and relied on an outdated workflow that created inefficiencies, overwhelming administrative resources.

How Did We Help?

Fusionary delivered a complete overhaul of the ArtPrize portal, leveraging advanced technologies such as Next.js for a seamless frontend experience and Supabase for a scalable, cloud-based database.

This rebuild introduced features like historical data retention, automated artist-venue connections, and intuitive re-registration workflows, resulting in a 50% improvement in artist registration efficiency and a 10% increase in venue signups, while significantly reducing administrative overhead.

The Results

Enhanced User Experience
The existing portal was unintuitive and required artists and venues to re-register each year, with no way to track data over time. The connection process needed refinement to ensure a seamless, more intuitive workflow without admin intervention. We made the artist-venue connection process more intuitive with clear notifications and a streamlined workflow.
Strategic Rebuild
We created a user-friendly portal with Next.js that simplifies profile creation, submissions, and connections. Using Supabase, we built a database that retains historical data, reducing the need for yearly re-registration and allowing tracking of entries over time.
Easy to Manage & Scale
The existing portal couldn't support the expanding demands of ArtPrize. Built with future growth in mind, using Vercel, Cloudinary, and Stripe for seamless expansion while keeping year-over-year data for future analysis. We also added a suite of admin tools, giving ArtPrize control over data and user interactions.
Increase in Venue Signups

The redesigned portal helped lead to a 10% increase in venues signing up and successfully connecting with artists to host entries in the latest event. This is a huge improvement over the previous year.

Increase in Artist Registrations

Fusionary's team was highly responsive to the needs of ArtPrize in creating a from-scratch artist/venue registration and connections platform.
